Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is One Voice Wales?

One Voice Wales is the national representational body for Community and Town Councils in Wales.

What does it do?

We provide advice, training, consultancy and development opportunities for Councils who are members. We also provide training opportunities for non-member councils but the fees charged are higher.

We lobby on behalf of Community and Town Councils, respond to consultation exercises and work with partners across the economic, social and political landscape.

Is it mandatory to join?

Not at all, but we are thrilled that over 674 Councils have recognised the value of membership and signed up. That’s over 92% of all Community and Town Councils in Wales!

How can my Council become a member?

Simply Contact Us and we will send you full details. Study the information and ask your Council to approve membership.

Is there a membership fee to join?

Yes. We think that membership represents fantastic value for money. Have a look at what Councils say about us here.

Is One Voice Wales a bilingual organisation?

Yes.

Can One Voice Wales advise individual Councillors?

No. The Council as a whole is a member as a corporate body. All correspondence is via the Clerk, Chair or Councillor nominated by the Chair.

Are Councils able to become involved in the work of One Voice Wales?

Oh yes! Councils appoint representatives to attend Area Committee meetings where much useful information is shared. Councillors make up all of our other committees and take decisions on things like finance, policy and the overall strategy of the organisation.

How do I find details of training courses?

Just look here!

Also visit our on-line training dates to book a place on our upcoming courses.

How does One Voice Wales keep Councils informed about what is going on?

Our regular e-bulletin provides information on policies, legislation, news and vacancies. To subscribe to our e-newsletter, contact us.

Can all Councils access information on the website?

Some information is available to all Councils, but, as we are a membership organisation, most of the information is restricted to Councils who are members. The Clerk is provided with login details.

Is One Voice Wales on social media?

Yes. We are busy on X, with around a thousand followers @onevoicewales. We are also active across other platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn and we have a You Tube Channel – watch our videos here.

One fact you didn’t know about One Voice Wales?
